He was predeceased by: his parents, J. W. Kesner Sr. and Bonnie Belle Kesner; his stepmother Alta Kesner; his siblings, J. W. Kesner Jr. (Irene) and Mary Belle Swearingen (Doug); his sisters-in-law, Polly Kesner and Lois Kesner; and his niece Judi Swearingen Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Whitson Kesner; his daughter Bonnie Dale Curlin; his son-in-law Jay Curlin; his brothers, Winfred "Wimpy" Kesner (late Polly), Herbert Kesner (late Lois) and Mark Kesner (Marcelle); his grandchild Christopher Curlin (Liz Lowe Curlin); his children, Calyon, Maxwell, Julia Rose, Adam Curlin, Jason Curlin, Gideon Curlin (Megan Schofield), Jessie, Riley, Charity Curlin, Gabriel Curlin and Benjamin Curlin; and his nieces and nephews, Steve Kesner (Brenda Corbin Kesner), David Kesner (Brenda Leslie Kesner), Brent Kesner (Amy Camp Kesner), Phillip Swearingen (Valerie), Beverly Hansen, Barbara Buras, Phyllis Russell, Kathy Austin (Buddy), Rosemary Geren (Terry), Keni Swearingen Rodgers (John) and Leslie Swearingen Banner.
