He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Thompson and Lucille Thompson; and his siblings, J. W. Thompson, Roy Allen Thompson, Herbert Eugene Thompson, Geraldine Maxum and Shirley Hurst.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Beth Thompson; his daughter Sarah Beth Coe (Jake) of Jonesboro; and his sisters, Jolyne Raines of Cash and Carolyn Skaggs of Swifton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
