He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Alexander and Zona Mary Bradley Hestand; and his husband Joe L. Banks. He is survived by: his children, Sandra Roe of Cushing, Oklahoma, Tim Banks (Anne) of Brunswick and Nick Banks (Maria) of Fayetteville. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren.
