He was predeceased by: his former wife Janice Irene Shores Higginbotham. He is survived by: his wife Donna Dee Flowers Higginbotham; and his children, Susan Powell, Stacy Walker, Tracy Wheeler and Jon Higginbotham. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In 2019, the Washington Regional Medical Foundation honored Dr. Higginbotham with the Eagle Award for his contributions to improving healthcare in Northwest Arkansas.
