He was predeceased by: his parents, Jiro Nakanishi and Kotoku Nakanishi (Uyehara); his wife Theresa; and his brothers, Shigeru (Katherine), Shigeo (Anna), Toshio (Betty) and Noboru (Erika).
He is survived by: his sons, Mark Nakanishi (Lori) and Daniel Nakanishi; his granddaughter Katrina McQuay (Mathew); and his siblings, Lois Valeriay (Anthony) and Ray Nakanishi (Naomi).
