He was predeceased by: his parents, James Roscoe Carter and Gladys Katherine Rutherford Carter; and his brothers, Jack Carter and Kendell Carter. He is survived by: his daughter Beverly Sullins of Russellville; his grandsons, Brian and Michael Sullins; his great grandchildren, River and Ridge Sullins; and also, Tony and Fran Thompson. He is also survived by five nephews.
