He was predeceased by : his father Joseph Granville Gates Sr.; and his brother Granville Gates Jr.. He is survived by : his children, Deborah Gates Delashmit (Peter), Susan Gates Sutton (Dennis) and John Kenneth Gates Jr.; his grandchildren, Coleman Jones, Ethan Jones (Sarah), Shelton Jones Bailey (Hannah), William Christenbury (Corrie) and Deanna Lyons (Rob); and his nephews, Granville Gates (Susan) and Jeff Gates (Carol). He is also survived by his 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Fairfield Bay Methodist Church Memorial Park and Columbarium Fund or American Cancer Society.
