He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Nies and Addie Nies (Hagelgantz). He is survived by: his wife Janet Nies of Eureka Springs; his sisters, Gloria Sutherland (Duke) of Goodlettsville, TN and Bonnie Schroeder (Dave); his nieces, Cari Wright of Hendersonville, TN, Cassie Kenerson of Goodlettsville, TN and Sarah Crum; and his nephew James Shawver of Laramie, WY..
