He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Welch and Jessie B. Bennett; his granddaughter Crystal Whitaker; his great grandchild Hunter Whitaker; and his siblings, Sonny Man and Hattie Tugg.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Smith Welch; his children, Tammy Whitaker and Ronald Welch (Anna); his siblings, Henry Welch (Linda), Bill Welch, Elvis Welch, Wanda Tice, Lena Evans (Jessie) and Bessie Davis; and his grandchildren, Cheyenne, Austin, Dakota, John, Dane and Jordan.
