He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Ratliff and Elsie Bailey Ratliff; his wife Louise Ratliff; his daughter Mary Lockeby; and his siblings, Gerald Ratliff, William H. Ratliff, Donald M. Ratliff and Velva Lou Gibheart.
He is survived by: his children, Melvin Darell Ratliff, Jr. (Susan), Shawn Ratliff (Ricci) of White Hall and Patty Cavenor of Benton; and his sister Carolyn Hill of Ravenden Springs. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
