She was predeceased by: her husband Chaney Cates; her parents, Arthur McCarty and Jewel McCarty; her brother Glen McCarty; and her son Kim Cates.
She is survived by: her children, Randy Cates, Patricia Bone, Sue Weatherford, Pam Mitchell, Rebecca Ethridge and Gaylon Sierra; and her siblings, Billy Paul McCarty and Joy Chaney. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
