It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Effie LaJo Courtney of El Dorado, Arkansas, who passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvin F. Blackmon Sr. and Ruby Barker Blackmon; her son Robert A. Courtney; and her brothers, Thomas Blackmon and Marvin F. Blackmon, Jr. (Lillian Rowland).
She is survived by: her husband Joe P. Courtney; her children, Ronald Courtney (Connie) and Renee'Bryant (Mike); her grandchildren, Daniel Courtney, Matthew Courtney (Jen), Jessica Meyer (Jeremy), Chelsea Culpepper and Madison Williams (Bodhi); and her great grandchildren, Rain, Ada, Everleigh, Liora, Sheba, Emoree, Lillian, Logan and Barrett. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home - El Dorado (400 N College Ave, El Dorado, AR 71730). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel - El Dorado (400 N College Ave, El Dorado, AR 71730).
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
