He is survived by: his wife Ruthie Madden Bess; his sons, Terry Bess (Cleatrice) and Bryant Bess (Sharon); his siblings, Verona "Tim" Green, Anthony Boyd (Donnie Bess), John Bess, Mattie Daniels and Isophine Madden; and his close friends, Jesse Webb and Rev. Earnest K. Mitchell. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
