She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmanuel Smith and Rosie Smith-Neal; her stepfather Lindsey Neal; her husband Anderson Holmes (Sarge); her children, Teretha Anne Holmes and Reginald Strain; and her siblings, Thomas Howard, Emmanuel Smith, Katie Smith, Emma Mitchell and Rosie Pittman.
She is survived by: her children, Dorothy Emerson (Alex) of Dumas, Gearldean Smith of Dumas, Olevia Holmes of Dumas, Synthia Franklin (Sedrick) of Dumas, Marzella Tyson (Antione) of McKinney, Texas, Anderson Jr. Holmes (Rose) of Dumas, Manuel Martin (Donna) of Kentwood, Shamon Coger of Fayetteville, Greg Smith of Bloomington and Carl Holmes of Dumas, Arkansas; her siblings, Johnny Smith, Eddie Howard of Chicago, Illinois, Ruby Powell of Bloomington and Marvell Branch of Jonesboro, Arkansas; her nephew Elder Bernard Slater of Dumas, Arkansas; and her nieces, Fannie Slater of Dumas and Diane Jackson of Monroe, Louisiana. She is also survived by grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
