He was predeceased by: his parents, Granvil Tate Johnson and Lola Mae Brigham Johnson; and his sister Norma Tate Jones (Hiriam Sr.). He is survived by: his wife Betty Jane Austin Johnson; his daughter Anita Beth Johnson Dennis; his siblings, Jerry Johnson (Anna) and Sandra Drittler (Leroy); his nephew Hiriam Jones Jr. (Bobbie); his nieces, Cathy Jones and Amy Drittler; his great-niece Harper Claire Presnell of Tennessee; and his great-nephews, Juan Jones, Daniel Jones, Russell Jones (Macy) and Kevin Jones (Rachel).

Memorial donations may be made to Rushing Cemetery in Dover.
