“What a man! He was a educator, coach, principal and superintendent. As a student at Portland High School, Mr Dillard was like a father figure to us all with smile as big as his statue. He was there for us as we integrated from Tillis to PHS. I will never forget his famous words when we would cut up in class. “Baby we’re going to have class with you or without you!” And also the sounds of those Stacy Adams as he would walk down the halls when class was in session. You will truly be missed.”

I respect your efforts to keep us safe while on these these types of outings and during our many hours at school. Even though you rarely got my name correct, I know you knew who was. I will always remember your jovial smile and wrenching hand shake. May God give you peace and rest in his Heavenly home.”

Mr. Dillard was my Principle, my basketball coach, a teacher, and he made sure we got home safe after a game. Every time I saw Mr.Dillard he had a big smile/grin on his face.
