He was predeceased by: his parents, Glover Calvin and Stella Esther Mays; and his brothers, Hershel Eugene, Samuel Ray, Loyd Gerald and Norman Mays.
He is survived by: his wife Niva Mays (Dotson); his sons, Tony Lee (Tonya Mays), Edgar Alan (Jeannette Mays) and Travis Duane (Tamara Mays); his siblings, Ruby Rasa (Edgar) of Lexington, MO and Robert Mays of Lamar, AR; his grandchildren, Austin Gene, Isaac Lee, Shianne Nichole, Seth Andrew and Haley Elizabeth; and his great grandchildren, Ava Rain, Emma Rose, Alivia Gracelynn and Edmund Mays.
