He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Swartz and Irene Swartz; and his siblings, Dick Swartz, Bill Swartz, Fritz Swartz and Mary Swartz.

He is survived by: his sons, John Anthony Swartz, Jr. (Lisa) and Richard Swartz (Christy); his grandchildren, Casey Pavao (Travis), William Swartz, Grace Swartz and Micah Swartz; and his great grandchild Jaxon Pavao.
