He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Melton and Bessie Grigsby Melton; his son Rodney Dean Melton; and his sister Juanita Dunegan. He is survived by: his wife Marie Melton of Cushman; his daughter Carla Melton-Sterling (Will) of Swifton; his sisters, Ida Rawlings (Norman) of Cave City and Vicki Moffitt (Michael) of Batesville; and his granddaughter Cheyenne Lawrence. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
