It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Willie Danzy of Crossett, Arkansas, born in Parkdale, Arkansas, who passed away on August 6, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Lee Hester Simmons Danzy; his daughter Detria Danzy Starr; his parents, Ellis Danzy, Sr. and Illeen Thomas Danzy; and his siblings, Eddie, Leroy Sr., Steven, Robert Lee Danzy, Nancy Williams, Emma Burdette, Ola B. Moore, Ernestine Gayles and Verleen Matheney.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda (Henry Gaston) of Fayetteville, AR, Wilda (Edward Johnson) of Houston, TX, James Fitzgerald Danzy of Fayetteville, AR, Willie Anthony (April Danzy) of Crossett, AR and Tiffany (Edward Morgan) of Hamburg, AR; his goddaughters, Evelyn Woods of Montrose, AR and Renee Hunt Sanders of Jacksonville, AR; his siblings, Ellis Danzy (Aretha) of Crossett, AR, Samuel Charles, Jewel Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Margaret Richmond of Little Rock, AR, Shirley Williams of Little Rock, AR and Linda (John Paige) of Dermott, AR; and his grandchildren, Timotheus Danzy, Samuel Starr, Davina Starr, David Starr, Jr., Arsenio Gaston, Arstina Gaston, Ana Gaston, Jennifer Johnson, Micaela Johnson, Jamie Jones, Jeremy Jones and Drew Danzy. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
