It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Mitchell of Corning, Arkansas, born in Leachville, Arkansas, who passed away on October 10, 2021, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Mitchell (Stice); his parents, James Stanford and Rachel Elizabeth Mitchell (Davis); and his siblings, Orville, Floyd, Lloyd, Gene Mitchell, Ruby Labrot, Jewell Lane and Ruth Mitchell.
He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Schermerhorn (Jeff) of Henderson, NV.; his sister Joyce Steel of Paragould, AR.; his grandchildren, John Schermerhorn (Victoria), Derek Schermerhorn, Amanda Rogers (Derek), Kaci Erickson (Jeff), Renae Espinosa (Robert), Deona Plunk (Robert) and Lorinda Mayfield; and his great grandchildren, Haillie, Colton, Parker, Riley, Conrad, Max, Carter, Emma, Wyatt, Makenzie, Grace, Keanen, Beth and Gary. He is also survived by five great great grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
