He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Arsenio Valdez and Juanita Valdez (Maestes); his son Ephrain Silas Valdez; his mother-in-law Mary Ortiz; and his siblings, Ben Valdez, Adolph Valdez, Marci Madrid, Marie Gonzalez and Connie Leyba.

He is survived by: his wife Christine Valdez; his siblings, Stan Valdez, Frieda Payne and Esther Kast; his grandchildren, Jalisa Allison (Chris), Jessie Valdez (Amanda), Jalena Valdez (Adam Coleman) and Jenna Arizpe-Valdez (Carlos); his great grandchildren, Grant, Emma, Lily and Maggie Allison; his grandchildren, Mila, Eli, Nolan, Ruth Valdez, Blaise, Buddy and Adalena Coleman; his sisters-in-law, Maroline Ritter (Lee), Linda Groditski and Carolina Riley; and also Bryson Allison. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
