He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul D. Matthews and Emma Lou Matthews Thomas; his stepfather Raymond Thomas; and his stepsiblings, Herald Thomas, Mike Thomas and Janice Crouch.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Ridgely Matthews; his daughter Christi Matthews Hilliker (James); his grandsons, Hunter Hilliker and Trevor Hilliker; his sister Terri Matthews Luna (Mike) of Springfield, Missouri; his stepsister Rita Thomas (Terry) of Nixa, Missouri; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Thomas of Kearney and Leanne Bland of Conway, Arkansas.. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Navajo Mission Fund at Robinson and Center Street Church of Christ located at 1505 Robinson Avenue, Conway, Arkansas 72034. Donations can also be made to any chapter of the March of Dimes.
