He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Claassen and Hester Claassen; his wife Judy Claassen; his siblings, Ed, Charles Claassen and Elizabeth McKim; his granddaughter Taryn Claassen; and also Hester Claassen.

He is survived by: his sons, Murray (Kim), Myron (Ramona) and Mark (Tammie); and his sister Clara Kerekes. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
