He is survived by: his wife Mary Beth Wingfield-Downey; his children, Dennis Downey Jr. and Gena Downey Baker; his grandchildren, Matt Mattingly, Savannah Baker Case (Jordan) and Jay Downey (Catherine); his great grandchildren, Hazel Case, Charley, Paisley, Oliver Mattingly, Henry and Hayes Downey; and his siblings, Judy Wolfe (Dick), Linda Taggard (Ed) and Nick Downey (Kay).
