He was predeceased by: his parents, James Shaw and Queen Esther Shaw; his former wife Savera Shaw; and his children, Lonnie, Joyce Scott, Nerrissa, Chakalaya, Seneta and Johnnie Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Christine Shaw; and his children, Brenda Shaw (MN), Maria Hill (Marketus Lowe), Ronnell (Debra), Michael Shaw (MN), Maurice Burns (MN), Cody (Mary) and Josiah (Sharee). He is also survived by 100 grandchildren.
