He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Hester and Leola Hester (Askins); his wife Norma Jean Hester (Parette); and his siblings, Donald Hester, Maxine Hester, Melvina Garrett and Norma Jean Kwaak.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Dailen; his son John Short (Michelle) of Center Ridge, AR; his stepchildren, Eugene Zachary of Morrilton, AR and Wilma "Winn" Zachary of Virginia; his grandchildren, Chayton Cornelius, Kris Winn and Heather Poarch; and his great grandchildren, Savannah Winn, Nicholas Winn, Austin Poarch and Addison Poarch.
