He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Claire Ponder and Vernon Wallace Nelson; his stepdaughter Amber Nicole Stinson; his grandchild Jade Lyn Nelson; and his brothers, Danny Wallace, Johnny Lloyd and David Thomas.

He is survived by: his siblings, Frances Gail Nelson Allison and Robert Jaburg Sr.; his children, Veronica Sue DeCourcy, Jessica Billene Nelson, Bibiana Marie Nelson, David Lynn Nelson and Raymond Alexander Nelson; his stepdaughter Theresa Isabel Hargraves; and his former wives, Carolyn Schreibvogel and Dora Linda Hernandez. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews.
