He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Friesen and Eloise Friesen of Lamar; and his brother Calvin Friesen of Lamar, Colorado.. He is survived by: his wife Villa Friesen of Dover, Arkansas; his stepdaughter Patience Pendergraft (Lance) of Russellville, Arkansas; his daughters, Koni Mooney (Rick) of Mena and Lisa Carpenter (Jason) of Cleburne, Texas; and his siblings, Wanda Balmer (Brent) of Ault, Colorado and Clarence (Karlene) of Union Star, Missouri. He is also survived by nephew, great-niece, great-nephew, five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
