He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Cowell and Eunice Talley Cowell; his wife LaQuita Ralph Cowell; and his sisters, Wanda Haggard and Mary Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, Sherman Cowell (Angie), James Cowell and Teresa Cowell Mans; and his sisters, Eva Dale (David) and Sharon Baney. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
