He was predeceased by: his parents, David Bates and Connie Hedge; his brother Ricky Dale Bates; and his stepmother Wanda Bates. He is survived by: his wife Claudia Bates (Reynolds); his children, Hillary Bates of Charleston and Justin Bates (Ashley) of Charleston; his siblings, Debbie Chandler (Allen) of Van Buren, Rhonda Martin (Jimmy) of Charleston, Kim Kincy (Danny) of Lavaca and Danny Bates (Vicki) of Russellville; his sister-in-law Roxanne Bates of Charleston; and his grandchildren, Devlen Bates, Braylon Fugate and Brynleigh Bates.
