He is survived by: his wife Sarah Ernst (Thompson); his sons, Brent Ernst of Maumelle and Blair Ernst (Sarah) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; his siblings, Donna Freed of Phoenix, Arizona, Bob Ernst of Phoenix, Arizona and Edward Ernst of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Megan Petrarca (JP), Beau Ernst and Benjamin Ernst; and his great grandchild Dominic Thompson Petrarca.
