She was predeceased by: her parents, Collie Taylor and Beatrice Taylor (Ashley); her former husband Hughie Chastain; her husband Obie Melson; her daughter Louise King; her siblings, Sammy Taylor, Roy Gene Taylor, Doris Forrester and Frances Simmerson; and her grandchildren, Wanda Higgenbottom and Johnny Chastain Staton.
She is survived by: her children, Tommy Chastain of Lincoln, Arkansas, Geraldine McClendon of Palestine, Freida Turney (Larry) of Cave City and Pamela Prater (Frank) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and her siblings, Robert Taylor of Marion, Arkansas and Lois Stevenson (Wayne) of Wynne, Arkansas. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
