He is survived by: his brother Dale Arter of Newport; and his children, Alvin Arter (Ann) of Swifton, Johnny Arter (Cindy) of Newark, Chester Arter of Cave City, Jeffery Arter of Oklahoma, Michael Reed of Newport, Jerry Reed of Newport, Jennifer Long (Chad) of Cave City and Jerrie Lawhon of Jacksonville. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
