He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest David Shirley, Jr. and Ruth Ann Eller Shirley; and his son Howard Shirley, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Shirley; his children, James Shirley of Jonesboro, David Shirley of Adrian, Paul Shirley, Greg Adams (Sunni) of Marmaduke, Arkansas and Sheryl Puckett (Allen) of Caraway, Arkansas; and his brother Owen Shirley of Lodi, Ohio. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren.
