He is survived by: his wife Paula Merritt; his parents, Laura Merritt and Edward "Bud" Merritt (Sharon); his brother Chad Merritt (Dorian); his children, Amber Merritt (Carlos), Leslie Green (Drew), Elizabeth Vaughan, Brooks Merritt (Deanne) and Robert Shackleford; his grandchildren, Madelynn Thibault, Sawyer Doherty, Londynn Bynum, Hadley Green, Aubrey Green, Autumn Merritt, Isabella Merritt, Remington Shackleford and Bree Shackleford; his aunts, Connie Sue Lester and Beulah Coston; and his siblings-in-law, Stan Shackleford, Carol Shackleford (Tommy) and Candace Philyaw (Dave). He is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, and several cousins he loved.
