She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifton Thornton and Maureen Miller Thornton; her husband J. D. Melton; her sons, John David Melton and Johnny Doyle Melton; her siblings, Margie Thornton Alford, Mary Thornton Tuck, Linda Dianne Thornton, Peggy Jo Thornton, David Thornton, James Leo Thornton and John Thomas Billingsley; and her siblings-in-law, Brenda Thornton and Andrew "Bud" Hastings.
She is survived by: her siblings, Richard Thornton of Wynne, John Clifton (Jacky) of Texas, Betty Thornton of Forrest City, Martha Alice Hastings of Forrest City, Barbara (Arthur Trevino), Dorothy Thornton Corbett of Forrest City and Jackie Thornton Billingsley of Cabot, Arkansas.
