He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara; his parents, Herbert Brecht Sr and Jessie Brown Brecht; and his siblings, Herbert Brecht Jr., Ardith Kolcorn, Barbara Johnson, John Brecht and Richard Brecht.
He is survived by: his siblings, Irene Hunter, Patricia Chaffin and Darlene Mack; his children, Rena Magee and Bill Brecht Jr.; his wife Debra; his children, Marcia Elliott, Carol Brecht, Scott Brecht (Lisa Kaye) and Lisa Bass; and his grandchildren, Amy Magee, Becky Tripp (Andy), Amber Newton, Heather Hawkins, Brittany Brecht, Meagan Brecht, Chelsea Bass, Lindsey Remow (Brent), Hayden Bass, Logan Bass and Jacob Bass.
