He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lloyd "Bud" Lawrence and Shirley Lawrence; his wife Kristy; his children, Joseph "Scotty" Lawrence Jr. (Dana), Christopher Lawrence (Mande), Brittany Lawrence, Cory Fleeger (Keitha) and Jade Shaw (Chris); and his brothers, Clay and Paul Lawrence.
