He was predeceased by: his parents, August Wiest and Mae Wiest; his wife Lavonda Bernice Wiest; and his daughters, Mary Linda and Sheyanne Timpe.
He is survived by: his children, Glen Hale of Pensacola, Robert J. Wiest of Rockford, Illinois, Mozelle Frazier (James) of Paragould, Peggy Starks (Norm) of Beloit and Rhonda Hathcoat (Rick) of Brookland; his son-in-law Rich Timpe; and his grandchildren, Joseph Enna (Sara), Angela McCarty (Bob), Carrie Adams (Roger), Lindy Baker (Mark), Zach Hale, Tara Schaff-Gatlin, Amy Schaff, Leah Schindler, Robert Wiest (Julie), Crystal Bachman (Kevin), Tiffany Creecy (Adam), Kyle Hathcoat (Brandi) and Heather Beshiers (Blake). He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
