Martha Jane Akers Obituary

Martha Jane Akers, 72, or Brookland, Arkansas passed away on August 12, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on November 17, 1950 in Imboden, Arkansas to Charles and Elsie Hill.

Martha was a member of the Brookland Assembly of God and went on mission trips with the church and anything else that involved helping and serving people and God! Martha was a nurse for 46 years and loved taking care of and helping people.

Survivors include; one daughter: Tanya Tacker (Curtis) of Brookland, Arkansas; one bonus daughter: Sheila Bixler (Joe) of Malden, Missouri; one step-son: Danny Akers (Claudia) of Harrisburg, Arkansas; two brothers: Charles Hill of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Michael Hill (Kathy) of Mabelvale, Arkansas; one sister: Linda Wood (Wayne) of Lake City, Arkansas; three grandsons: Logan, Robby, and Ryan; four granddaughters: Faith, Shania, Monica, and Hannah; four great-grandchildren: Payton, Lilly, Gunner, and Cathrine; many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by; her parents: Charles and Elsie Hill; her husband: Danny Akers; one son: Bobby Hill; one brother: Johnny Hill; and one nephew: Michael Hill.

Pallbearers: Allen Hampton, Trinity Hembrey, Chris Burnett, Jason McGowan, Matthew White and Matthew Hill. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. Treece and the staff at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Brookland Assembly of God with Bro. Tom Newman and Bro. Shane West officiating. The interment will be held at Noble Cemetery in Brookland, Arkansas under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
