He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Brooks and Alma Ball Brooks; his wife Bonnie Brooks; his son James Brooks; and his siblings, Billy Wayne Brooks and Juanita Brooks Blanton.

He is survived by: his children, Darlene Brooks Campbell and David Brooks; and his siblings, Shelby Brooks Durfee, Gaylon Brooks, Donnie Brooks and Jimmy Brooks. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
