He was predeceased by: his parents, Hillis Dorton and Bertha Dorton (Caldwell); his son Rickie Dorton; and his siblings, Cecil Dorton, Evelyn Burrow, Verdis Broadaway and Vida Mae Dorton.
He is survived by: his wife Vergie "Tookie" Dorton; his son Lynn Dorton (Angie); his daughter-in-law Kaye Dorton; his grandchildren, Gabriel Dorton, Nicole Brown (Jerrel), Andrea Goad (Jason) and Daniel Dorton; his great grandchildren, Hannah Vaughn (Spencer), Gracie Dorton, Ella Dorton, Nicolas Brown, Alexander Brown, Katelyn Brown, Tyler Dorton, Mia Dorton, Jada Goad and Skylar Goad; his sister Mildred Hamilton; and his nieces, Beverly McQuay, Karen Forkum and Stephanie Thomas.
