He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Mae and George Alvin Nelson; his brothers, Malon Ray Nelson and Donald Maurice Nelson; his sons, Terry and Jerry Nelson; and his grandson Mark Alan Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Eva Lurlene Nelson; his siblings, Milton Ray Bunch of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Jonnie Fay Bunch of Bella Vista, Arkansas; his sons, Billy Joe Nelson, Jr. (Karen) of Jonesboro and John Alan Nelson (Angie); and his grandchildren, John David Nelson (Kinsey) of Blytheville, Arkansas, Brett Alan Nelson (Amee) of Bentonville, Arkansas and Kathryn Ann Turnbo (Kirk Turnbo) of Cabot, Arkansas. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews; five great grandchildren and many friends.
