He was predeceased by: his parents, Pete Monk and Estella Johnson Monk; and his son Earnest Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Arlene Jones of Blevins; his sons, Vincent Roos of Richmond and Jeffery Monk of Palestine, Texas; his granddaughters, Joanus Monk of Richmond and Antoinette Theus of Las Vegas; and his great grandchild Drew Reason of Las Vegas. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
