He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Searls and Stella Searls; his stepfather Orville Gahm; his wives, Dee Searls and Caroline Searls of Atwood, Kansas.; his son-in-law David Nissen; and his sisters, Myrtle Mae Palmgren and Merna Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Michael James, Sherry Nissen and Mike Searls (Lisa); his stepson Robert Peterson (Pennie); his sister Luretta Erwin; his half-brothers, Roy Searls (Jeane), Garry Gahm and Melvin Gahm; his grandchildren, Ashley, Aaron, Deidre, Alex, Chase and Austin; and his great grandchildren, Brenley, Logan and Booker.
