She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil R. Cathey and Ruby L. Simpson Cathey; her husband William "Bill" Shurtleff; her sisters, Mary Hopkins and Helen Willson; and her brother-in-law William Willson.
She is survived by: her brother Larry R. Cathey of Bearden; her brother-in-law David Hopkins of Bearden; and her nieces and nephews, Kaye Baird of Bearden, Johnny Hopkins (Carol) of Bearden, Keith Willson (Leah) of Mountain Home and Brigette Rose (Mark) of Bossier City. She is also survived by three great nephews and one great niece and four great great nephews.
