She is survived by: her sister Jane Marie Phillips of Michigan; and her nieces and nephews, Kim Phillips (Nancy) of Batesville, Michael Matthews (Elizabeth) of Texas, James Kendall Matthews (Angel) of Texas, Brandon Matthews (Genevieve) of Washington, Shane Phillips (Joany) of Benton, AR, Garrett Phillips (Sarah) of Michigan, Beverly Regina Combs (Tyrone) of Michigan, Karen Leitch (Bobby) of Michigan and Holly Phillips of Batesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Independence Regional Museum.

“Oh my, I have lost a true friend. I did not realize she was so close to leaving us. Most of all I will miss her dancing, sparkling, smiling eyes as she brought bits of history research to me and for the museum. Just 2 or 3 months ago she sent some to me on line. Long ago she came out to my house to help me with my computer program in the days before this illness. And my how she loved her family. Mary has been a Godsend for her. I will certainly give a memorial to the museum.. Twyla Wright”
