He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Barnes and Mary Barnes (Hines); and his siblings, Ed Barnes, Lucille Lively, Betty Crouch, Glenda Pierce, Molly Rasdon, Lola Leslie and Luella Rhodes.
He is survived by: his wife Julie Carnett Barnes; his children, Shawn Barnes (Laurie) of Batesville, Jay Barnes of Batesville, Katrina Crick (Ron) of Batesville and Sandy Barnes of Michigan; his siblings, Johnny Barnes (Nan) of Truman, Sue Carter of Indiana, Wanda Housley of Truman, Kay Rogers of Truman and Francis Battles of Truman; and his grandchildren, Vashti Burns, Elizabeth Crick and Tristen Barnes. He is also survived by great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
