He was predeceased by: his parents, Orlin B. Smythe and Lilla Smythe; and his siblings, Joe and Betty. He is survived by: his wife Katy Smythe; his children, Christie Chapman (Kevin) of Little Rock and Troy Smythe (John) of Corning; and his grandchildren, Kate Shell, Carlos Garcia, Jessica Herpin (Nate), Kristin Kellar (Tyler), Sara Nails (Jared) and Jacob Chapman.
